Makrooh acts

2609. Certain acts are Makrooh in slaughtering the animals:

1. Inserting the knife behind the food pipe from the side and cutting the four main arteries from the back.
2. Separating the head from the body of the animal before it completely dies, as per obligatory precaution, one should avoid doing that. Although, the meat of the animal will not become Haraam, however, if the head gets separated from the body unintentionally or due to the sharpness of the knife, then this act will not be considered as Makrooh.
3. One should not peel off the skin of the animal while it is still alive. However, as per obligatory precaution, one should avoid doing such act, although, the meat of the animal will not become Haraam.
4. Separating the spinal cord from the body before the animal completely dies.
5. Slaughtering an animal at a place where another animal can see it.

6. Slaughtering an animal on Friday night (i.e. the night preceding Friday), or on Friday before Zuhr. However, there is no harm in doing so in the case of necessity.
7. Slaughtering an animal which someone has bred and reared himself.
