An Excerpt from the writings of Grand Ayatollah Saafi Golpaygani on the days of Fatimiyyah
Fatimiyyah - In the writings of Grand Ayatollah Saafi Golpaygani

.

What can be said to describe the virtues of the Holy Progeny (peace be upon them), especially Lady Zahra (s.a.) and the blessings of her existence?

We must know that all we have is only because of the Holy Progeny (peace be upon them). Beside them, whatever is said by anyone, is said based on an individual and personal perception of human life, which is by no means connected to an authentic source and cannot be trusted.

Everything that the humanity requires for its guidance exists in the school of Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them), referring to which the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Indeed am leaving among you two weighty things, the Book of Allah and the Holy Progeny”. It means take everything from Prophet’s Ahl al-Bayt (a.s.) and take nothing from elsewhere.

Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) said, “do not go ahead of them and do not fall behind them; because if you go ahead, you will be misguided and if you fall behind, you will be destroyed.

The Pivotal Role and Special Virtue of Her Highness (s.a.)

Among the Household of Prophet (peace be upon him), Lady Zahra (peace be upon her) holds a pivotal position and possesses a significant status, i.e. all the infallible Imams (peace be upon them) are proud of her existence. In fact, her holy existence is a Divine Argument for the entire Household of Prophet (peace be upon him), which means for establishing their truth and defeating the usurpers and the transgressors, they all seek her as a proof.  Each member of this divine Household is a divine argument, but from these aspects, the argumentation of Lady Zahra (s.a.) is greater than the rest of them.

Lady Fatima Zahra (s.a.) is the “mistress of all the women in the world”, the essential part of Prophet (p.b.u.h.), the companion of Allah’s Wali (guardian), a lady whose participation in the event of Mubahila was exclusive, and among the entire Household as well, she is the only lady who holds the status of infallibility and purity, like her father, husband and sons.

A True Copy of the Original

With the exception of the position of Prophet-hood, she was a true copy of her father in the aspect of his etiquettes, knowledge and virtues, and like all the other infallible Imams, her life, actions and behavior, constituted the religion and Sharia, and served as a guide towards the divine rule.

She possessed Imamate in her knowledge and guidance, and was the Supreme Lady of Islam in her chastity, purity, veil and generosity; her existence proved to be a great example and served as a role model for others.

The Sermon of Fadak, a Miracle of Lady Zahra (s.a.).

One of the miracles of Lady Zahra (s.a.) is her extempore sermon of Fadak. Her Highness, in that atmosphere of strangulation and deceit, having suffered the extremely unbearable and sorrowful demise of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h.) as well as other atrocities, delivered this sermon, which was so high in eloquence that even Imam Ali (a.s.), who is known as the Imam of eloquence and the Master of oration, could not deliver such a comprehensive, elegant, devastating and eternal speech, mainly due to the inappropriateness of the circumstances for him.

The magnanimity of Lady Zahra (s.a.) was so spellbinding that not a single person in that historic gathering and unforgettable trial could stop her from delivering the sermon. It was as though Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) himself was speaking, and most of the people who were present in that gathering began to weep upon hearing those realities.

Nevertheless, this sermon comprises of such immensely sublime points that it stands as one of the miracles of the Holy Household (peace be upon them) and therefore, it has been quoted in the book Balaghaat Al-Nisa (Eloquence of Women) written in the second century of the Prophet’s Migration (Hijrah).

The attributes of Her Highness are numerous; one of them is mentioned in the Hadith in which the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) wishes to console and comfort Lady Zahra (s.a.), by saying, “O Fatima! Good tidings to you that Mahdi (a.t.f.s.) is from you”. It is a very significant Hadith in which Prophet, the greatest man ever known to the world, for comforting the soul and preparing his beloved and unique daughter to face the atrocities and afflictions of the future, consoles her in this manner that Mahdi (May Allah hasten his reappearance) is from you. It means everything is from and for you. The circle of this world will ends at you, the success of truth over evil and light over darkness is because of you. Nevertheless, the virtues of Lady Zahra (s.a.) are countless.

The commemoration of the event of Fatimiyyah, the stands taken by Fatima (s.a.), the life of Fatima (s.a.), the piety of Fatima (s.a.), the prayers of Fatima (s.a.), the knowledge and wisdom of Fatima (s.a.), must always be a part of our life and these points must be discussed and explained in our speeches, books and at every suitable opportunity.

The afflictions that Lady Fatima (s.a.) has suffered, which are so evident and clear that even in books like Al-Nihayah, Ibn Aseer – an author who belongs to the Sunni sect and has written the book on linguistics- could not stop himself from indicating towards the atrocities committed on Lady Zahra (s.a.) after the demise of Prophet Mohammad (p.b.u.h.) and mentions it clearly for everyone.

History must be told for the people. The words of Lady Zahra (s.a.), especially her miraculous sermon, must be presented in front of the world.

In these days of Fatimiyyah, the celestial personality of this glorious Lady must be honored and revered, and people must express their love and respect for this unique Islamic lady, who is the beloved daughter of the Prophet of Mercy (peace be upon him).

We are in immense need of following the lifestyle of Lady Fatima (s.a.) today. Our society, in order to act upon the Islamic way of wifehood and upbringing of children - for which the best example was set by Fatima (s.a.) – is indispensably in need of imitating her life.

Today, the words of Lady Fatima (s.a.) must stand as the guidelines of leading life for all women and men also. Her Highness taught the world, the true value and actual honor of women and said, “the best of all women is one who herself doesn’t witness a non-Mahram man and who is not witnessed by a non-Mahram man either”.

This is what has kept Lady Zahra (s.a.) alive in the hearts of all the aware, god-worshipping and truth-seeking men till today and will keep her alive until the Day of Judgment.

Fatimiyyah – A revolt against the oppressors.

Fatimiyyah is a historic event; Fatimiyyah is a revolt against oppressors; Fatmiyyah is a Jihad for the success of truth over falsehood and at last, Fatmiyyah is the day of the divine governance of Imam Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance).

Indeed, Fatimiyyah is Ashura, Fatimiyyah is the Night of Ordinance (Laylat Al- Qadr), Fatimiyyah is Ghadir and 15th Shaban; Fatimiyyah is the day of the success of light over darkness.

In the light of propagating the virtues of Her Highness, all the religious aspects, such as the Wilayah (Guardianship) of the pure Imams, the invitation towards Islam, Quran, the school of Ahl Al-Bayt (a.s.) and overall, the message of Allah’s Messenger (p.b.u.h.) must be propagated.

We must fight against the distortions, foreign influences, disorientations, wrong doings, spreading of undesirable and unwanted activities, ignorance and misguidance.

The school of Ahl Al-Bayt (a.s.), is the school of cognition, the school of knowledge and awakening, the school of awareness, justice, equality, intellectual development and the progress of illuminating thoughts; and all these aspects must be explained during these days. We must all realize the value of the Fatimiyyah events and make good use of these fortunate opportunities. Our most important duty is to supplicate and pray with utmost humility in the divine threshold of Allah (s.w.t.) for the immediate reappearance of the beloved son of Lady Zahra (s.a.), Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s.).
