Peace be upon you, O’ Aba Abdillah! And Peace be upon the souls who immersed themselves in you. Indeed, you have donated your blood in the path of Allah to rescue His servants from misguidance and bewilderment of ignorance, and you have revived the system of the religion. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you and your household, and your companions.

Hussain is the soul of the world

Hussain is a universe of wisdom and mysticism

He is the (manifestation of) Allah’s beauty and the great name of Allah

Husain is the manifestation of the name “Ar-Rahman”.

For Abraham and Moses and Jesus

Husain is a friend who has favoured them

For Zahra and Ali, he is the light of their two eyes.

For the Seal of the Prophets, he is beloved.

He is the Father of all the freemen and the Master of all the martyrs.

He is the greatest Wali of the Lord

From the ocean of endless power

Husain is the glowing and shining pearl.

For the realm of love and abstraction and trust

Husain is the absolute Wali and King

He is the most excellent blessing and eternal light of God

And He is the proof, the argument, and the reason.

The obligation of friendship with Imam Husain (peace be upon him)

Numerous narrations mention the obligation of befriending and loving Imam Husain (peace be upon him). In one narration, the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his progeny) is reported to have said: Whoever loves me, should love these two (pointing towards Imam Hasan and Imam Husain – peace be upon them). (Partawi Az Azmat e Imam Husain Alaihis Salam, p. 47).

The Path of Husain (peace be upon him)

We know the path of Husain (peace be upon him) as the straight path and the path of salvation and deliverance. (Ba Ashuraiyan, p. 47)

The Shias and lovers of Imam Husain (peace be upon him) must always revive the path of Husain and take it as their model of action. (Ba Ashuraiyan, p. 48).

The Path of Husain (peace be upon him) is the path of the Qur’an, the path of acting upon the laws, and the path of pride for Islam, monotheism, and faith in Allah (SWT). It is not the path of East and West and Right and Left; it is not the path of pride for the ages of infidelity and idol-worship or fire-worship and ascribing partner to God, it is not the path of the devil, the tyrants, the Pharaoh, Namrud and Jamshid. (Ba Ashuraiyan, p. 52).

The Secret of Imam Husain’s (peace be upon him) Eternity

If we keep Imam Husain (as) on top of all the greats and grand personalities, it is not only that we have preferred a great man, rather, we have preferred such a great person against whom all the greatness bows down, and we consider that man superior who is greater than every personality, and we prefer such a man who was at the top of all the historical men in their societies. This preference is not a new or innovative act, because the historical men spend all their lives to attain the glory and dignity of the Earth, and Imam Husain (peace be upon him) sacrificed his life in the path of gaining the heavenly glory, and such a person is greater and superior to everyone. (Aa’ina e Jamal, the work of His Eminence, p. 11).

The Moral Lifestyle of Imam Husain (peace be upon him).

Imam Husain (peace be upon), in his social ethics and beautiful form of interaction with the near and distant ones, held a sublime and unparalleled personality. The character of His Holiness was filled with forgiveness and pardon. His Holiness Imam Zain al-Abideen (as) reports from his honourable father that he said, ‘If a person swears at me in this year (and pointed towards his right ear) and gives excuse in the other ear, I will accept his excuse, because Amir al-Momineen (peace be upon him) has reported for me from my grandfather, the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his progeny), that he said, ‘One who does not accept the excuse from a truthful or untruthful person, He will not enter the pond (of Kowthar).’

Imam Husain (peace be upon him) behaved with his children, wives, relatives, and household, with utmost ethics, love, mercy, kindness, affinity and cordiality. (Aaina e Jamal, p. 27)

One of the slaves of His Holiness was pouring water on his blessed hands. The vessel of water fell from his hand on the tub and the water from the tub got splashed on the holy face of His Eminence. The slave said, ‘O my master! [وَالْكاظِمینَ الْغَیْظَ] (those who suppress their anger). His Holiness said: I have suppressed my anger. Then the slave said: [وَالْعافینَ عَنِ النّاسِ] (and excuse [the faults of] the people). The Imam said: I have excused you.

He said: [وَ اللهُ یُحِبِّ الْمحْسِنینَ] (and Allah loves the virtuous). The Imam said, ‘Go away! You have been set free in the path of Allah.’ (Partawi Az Azmat e Imam Husain Alayhis Salam, p. 211).

The Supplication of Imam Husain (peace be upon him)

Imam Husain (peace be upon him), on the night of Ashura, arrived in the gathering of his friends and loyal companions, and delivered a sermon, in the beginning of which he said:

Athni Alallah Ahsanath Thana, wa Ahamduhu Alas Sarraa’yi wadh Dharraa’yi. Allahumma Inni Ahmaduka Ala An Akramtana Bin Nubuwwah wa Allamtanal Qur’ana wa Faqqahtana Fid Din, Wa Ja’alta lana Asma’an, wa Absaran, wa Af-idatan, Faj-alna Minash Shakireen.

I praise and exalt Allah (SWT) in the best form, and I praise and thank Him in times of happiness and sadness. O God! I praise You for You have give us the Honour by Apostleship, and You have taught us the Quran, and You have given us the deep knowledge of religion, and You have regarded for as ears, and eyes, and hearts, so place us among the grateful ones. (Gufteman e Aashurayi, p. 31)

The Moon of Hashemites. (Special article on the birth anniversary of His Holiness Abul Fadhl Al-Abbas – peace be upon him).

Ziyarah of Hazrat Abal Fadhl Al-Abbas (as)

As Salamo Alayka Ya Abal Fadhlil Abbas Ibna Amiril Momineen, As Salaamo Alayka Yabna Sayyidil Wasiyeen.

As Salaamo Alayka Yabna Awwalil Qawmi Islaman wa Aqdamihim Imanan wa Aqwamihim Be Deenillahi wa Ahwatihim Alal Islam

Wa La’anallaho Ummatan Zalamatka Wa La-anallaho Ummatan Istahallat Minkal Maharim Wantahakat Hurmatal Islam.

Fa-Ne’mas Sabiro Al-Mujahido Al-Muhami An-Nasiro wal Akh Al-Dafi’o An Akheehi

Peace be upon you O Abal Fadhl Al-Abbas, son of Amir al-Momineen, Peace be upon you O son of the Master of successors,

Peace be upon you O son of the first person among all those who accepted Islam and the most superior one among them in terms of faith in Allah’s religion, and the most cautious one in the matter of Islam.

I bear witness that you did the best for Allah, His Messenger, and your brother, and you were the most excellent self-sacrificing brother. So Allah’s curse be upon the group who killed you,

And Allah’s curse be upon the group which oppressed you and Allah’s curse be upon the group which violated your sanctities and infringed the sanctity of Islam.

You were the most excellent steadfast fighter, protector, supporter, and brother who defended his brother.

The Position of His Holiness Abal Fadhl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him)

His Holiness Imam Sajjad (peace be upon him) said: May Allah have mercy upon my uncle Abbas, who kept his brother before himself and sacrificed his noble life for his brother until his both hands were cut in the support of his brother, and Allah (swt) gave him two wings in return of his two hands, with which he will fly in the heaven with the angels, and Abbas (peace be upon him) hold such a position in the divine Allah (swt) that on the Day of Judgment, all the martyrs will be in awe of him and all the martyrs will desire for his position. (Amali Sheikh Saduq (ra), session 70).

The Insight of His Holiness Abal Fadhl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him)

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said regarding the virtue of Hazrat Abal Fadhl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) that: Our uncle Abbas had a deep insight. (Tanqih Al-Maqal, vol. 2, p. 70).

One day, Imam Ali (peace be upon him) said to his beloved son Abul Fadhl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him), who was in his childhood, that: Say: ‘One’. Hazrat Abbas (peace be upon him) said, ‘One’. Imam Ali (peace be upon him) said, say ‘Two’, and Hazrat Abbas (peace be upon him) said in response: ‘I feel ashamed of saying ‘Two’ (and thus exiting from the circle of God’s oneness) from the tongue with which I have said ‘One’ (and accepted the Oneness of Allah -swt). Imam Ali (peace be upon him) kissed both the eyes of Hazrat Abul Fadhl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him). (Mustadrak al-Wasail, vol. 2, p. 635, Al-Abbas, Abd Ar-Razzaq Muqarram, p. 92).

In the words of the Imam of Time (peace be upon him)

The Imam of Time (May Allah hasten his reappearance) said in a section of his beautiful speeches about his uncle Abbas (peace be upon him) that:

Peace be upon Abul Fadhl, Abbas the son of Amir al-Momineen, the great supporter of his brother, who sacrificed his life for his brother and chose the provision of tomorrow from yesterday. He was the devotee of his brother and he protected him and strived to bring water for him, but his hands were cut off. Allah’s curse be upon his killers. (Al-Mazar, Mohammad bin Mashhadi, one of the senior scholars of the sixth century).

The Master of All the Worshippers (An exclusive article on the birth anniversary of His Holiness Imam Zainul Abideen - peace be upon him).

Allahumma Salli Ala Ali Ibnil Husayn Sayyidil Aabideen Al-lazi Istakhlastahu Li-nafsika wa Ja-alta Minhu Aimmatal Huda Al-Lazeena Yahdoona Bil Haqqi wa Bihi Ya’diloona Ikhtartahu Li-Nafsika wa Tahhartahu Minar Rijs Wastafaitahu wa Ja-altahu Hadiyan Mahdiyya. Allahumma Fasalli Alayhi Afdhala Ma Sallayta Ala Ahadin Min Zurriyyati Anbiya’ika Hatta Yablugha Bihi Ma Taqarru Bihi Ainuhu Fid Dunya wal-Aakhirati Innaka Azeezun Hakeem.

O Allah! Send Mercy upon Ali, the son of Husayn, the Master of all the servants, whom You have purified for Yourself and placed the leaders of guidance - who guide the people with the truth and who return towards the truth - in his pure progeny. And You have selected him for Yourself and purified him from all kinds of impurities and filth, and You have chosen him and made him the guide towards God for the entire creation and have also made him the guided one.

O Allah! Send Your Mercy and Blessings upon him, from the best of all the mercy You have sent upon the descendants of Your Prophet so that his eyes can be brightened with that Mercy in this world and the Hereafter. Indeed You are the All-powerful and You know about all the affairs.

The Emotion of Supplication.

In one of the most emotional conditions of his life, Imam Sajjad (peace be upon him) supplicates in the divine threshold of Allah this way:

Ya Man Qasadahudh Dhalloon Fa Asaboohu Murshidan wa Ammahul Khaifoon Fa Wajadahu Moqilan Mata Rahatun Man Nasaba Li-Ghairika Badanahu Wa Mata Farhun Man Qasada Siwaka Be-Niyyatihi

O He Who when intended by the misguided people was found a Guide and preceptor, and when the frightened people went towards Him, they found Him as their refuge. When and how can such a person be at ease who has surrendered his body to someone other than You, and who stood before anyone apart from You with humility and servitude. When and how can that be person be happy who has intended anyone but You?.

(Niyayish Dar Arafat, p. 14)

The Fear of Allah in the Imam (peace be upon him)

It has arrived in a report narrated by Sufyan Bin Uyaynah that His Holiness Imam Zainul Abideen (peace be upon him) went to perform Hajj. When he wanted to enter the state of Ihram, his ride halted, his color turned pale, and he began to shiver. His body was shivering so much that he could not say “Labbayk”. Sufyan said, ‘I asked him: Why don’t you pronounce the Talbiyah?

He replied: I am afraid that I might hear in response: La Labbayka wa La Sa’dayka. (You are not welcome). And when he pronounced the Talbiyah, he fainted and fell from his ride. He was constantly in this condition until he completed his Hajj. (Safarnama e Hajj, p. 318)

The Eulogy of Farazdaq praising Imam Sajjad (peace be upon him)

During the reign of his father, Hisham Bin Abdul Malik visited the holy city of Mecca. While performing circumambulation (Tawaf), he wished to touch the Black stone but was unable to touch it due to the excessive crowd present there. A pulpit was brought for him to so that he can sit on it.

At that time, His Holiness Ali Bin Al-Husayn Zain al-Abideen (peace be upon him) appeared and he was wearing a garment around his waist and a cloak on his body and was the most good-looking and good-smelling person of all. He began to perform Tawaf and at every round, whenever he reached the Black Stone, people used to move aside in his honor so that the beloved son of Imam Husayn (peace be upon him) can touch the Stone.

Upon witnessing the respect and emotions expressed by the people, at a time when everyone wanted to reach the stone, Hisham became furious. A person from Shaam asked him: Who is this man who is receiving so much respect from the people that all of them are moving aside from the Stone in his honor? As he did not want the people of Shaam to know about Imam, he said, I don’t know him. Farazdaq, who was present there, said: I know him. The man from Shaam asked: O Abu Faras (Farazdaq)! Who is he?

It was at that time when Farazdaq recited his famous poem:

He is the one whose footprints the earth of Bat-ha recognizes.

The Kabah and the Hill and Haram recognize him.

He is the son of the best among all the servants of Allah. He is pious, pure, virtuous, and well-known.

He is the son of Fatima! If You don’t recognize him.

He is the one whose grandfather was the Seal of the Prophets.

(Partawi Az Azmat e Imam Husayn Alayhis Salam, p. 431).

The Luminous words of the Imam (peace be upon him)

-      One of the special qualities of this household (the household of the Prophet – May Allah send mercy upon him and his progeny) is that Allah (swt) has placed their love in the hearts of all the believers. (Partawi Az Azmat e Imam Husayn Alayhis Salam, p. 430).

-      Fear the beauty of the worldly life and beware of its deceptions and evils, and always remain cautious of the loss in the attachment with this world, because the adornment of this world is a trial, and attachment with it is a sin. (Translation of the 17th volume of Bihar Al-Anwar, p. 118).

-      O servant of God! Fear God and contemplate, and do what you have been created to do. (Ibid, p. 119)

-      A person said in the presence of the Imam (peace be upon him): O Allah! Make me independent of the people. The Imam said: It is not right. People are dependent upon each other. Instead, say O Allah! Do not make me dependent upon the evil people.

-      Whoever values himself, this world will become valueless for him. (Ibid, p. 123).
