His Eminence, Grand Ayatollah Al-Sistani

In the name of Allah, the All-Beneficent, the All-Merciful

Indeed we belong to Allah and to Him do we indeed return.

With great sorrow and grief have we received the news of the demise of a godly cleric, Grand Ayatollah Al-Haj Sheikh Lotfollah Safi Golpaygani (may Allah be pleased with him).

The demise of an honorable A’lim, one of the heads of the holy seminary of Qom, a virtuous man of our time, and an exemplary servant of the religion is indeed a significant loss. On this painful calamity, I express my condolences to the Holy Threshold of Hazrat Wali Al-Asr (may our souls be sacrificed for him) and to all the scholars, honorable relatives, and his esteemed devotees.

I ask Allah, the Almighty, to elevate his rank and bestow the survivors with graceful patience and great reward.
